YVETTE TANG, Untitled 3, photograph, 500$

Yvette Tang was born in Hong Kong in 1964. Later in the ’90s, she moved to Vancouver where she studied at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. During her studies, she discovered Yayoi Kusama, one of her major influences, as they share the same obsessive approach to art. She elaborately studied Wim Delvoye and the Chapman Brothers for their provocative artworks, and Max Ernst, for his playful and surreal vision of life. She started to construct her language, which combines various art forms from drawing and painting to photography. Later, she completed her studies in fashion photography at the New York Film Academy as well as a photography workshop with Normal Magazine in Paris, where she mentored under Formento+Formento. Her works have been internationally shown in exhibitions such as the Florence Biennale, Bushwick Essential New York, Gallery 1313 Toronto and Palazzo Ca’Zanardi Venice.
